Hello friends I am back on Substack and shared a life update

It feels good to write again and enjoying my naturally weird syntax without AI support

I did the same thing a while ago. Buttondown feels right but just didn’t work out. Welcome back! I’m still not quite back here even though I’m back here. Pretty offline in general these days!

Christin Chong, PhD's avatar

Oh yeah I remember that!!! We should get coffee one of these days offline

Salman Ansari's avatar

Sure! Maybe coffee and co-writing

Back on the trampoline with everyone 😆

You are one of the OG substackers and the reason I joined! Andrew just joined too. He called me an early adopter, but he doesn't realize I am a disciple!

Welcome back, Christin! Substack is buzzing!

I recall a three-year period visiting a friend and former neighbor (the kindest neighbor on the entire block!) while he was in prison. He would always ask me for books, and he would read literally anything I sent him.

Eventually, he was deported.

And he still asks me to send him books.

Christin Chong, PhD's avatar

thank you for supporting your neighbor and friend! What books did he want at the time?

Jay Norman's avatar

I went back to my Amazon orders (because that is/was the only option to send books to someone in prison) and among the orders: Thinking Fast and Slow, David and Goliath (Gladwell), The Purpose Driven Life, a Bible, and Webster's Dictionary and Thesaurus.

Christin Chong, PhD's avatar

what a selection! thank you for looking through your amazon history for my question :)

Oh wow. Good luck with this and looking forward to your updates Christin!!

Thank you so much Becky!! You remain my inspo for newsletter consistency and bravery in sharing.

Oh what happened with buttondown? (Lovely to see you, btw. I also feel silly for leaving substack. It was a principled decision, and the right decision—but perhaps not the best decision)

limited format options, lower open rate, and too expensive :<

Amazing work you are volunteering for. A good friend of mine has been doing prison work for many years. https://substack.com/@carlosg He would be well worth contacting. You can tell him I sent you. https://substack.com/home/post/p-192117559
